Lord Masque Is In The House

The supposedly-delayed-until-the-end-of-January Masters of the Universe Classics Lord Masque figure arrived at my doorstep on Friday. I was excited and surprised.

I think this figure is a very cool Blackstar/D&D-esque design, plus he is a great Filmation addition which pretty much became highly necessary/inevitable from the moment Classics Shokoti was announced.

I knew the included accessories were not from Masque’s cartoon appearance, but I didn’t realize until reading HeMan.org that they are specifically meant to go with a New Adventures He-Man variant figure instead. Slight bummer, because I think they work well with him, but since I have no interest in New Adventures or its Classics offerings, I will keep Masque armed as-is for the time being. (I’m sure if I was a New Adventures fan, I’d feel very excited about getting those accessories, so congrats to those folks.)

My one nitpick with this figure is that I wish that the mask was removable. In the episode in which he is defeated, his mask is removed (leaving only a dark emptiness under his hood) which is a major plot point and would have been cool and seemingly not too hard at all to implement on this figure, but whatever. I would always be displaying him with the mask on anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal.
